Aticama, Nayarit, Mexico

Aticama is a small village located right on beautiful Matanchen Bay in Nayarit, Mexico. The secluded sandy beach stretches for miles and is a very peaceful place to swim, walk or just relax. On the weekends Mexican families arrive to picnic, enjoy a game of soccer or a swim.

Early risers can enjoy watching a local farmer milking a cow in the field across the road.

It is wonderful to watch as the sun hit the palm trees and Sierra Madres.

I recommend a walk down the beach to Aticama for supper. If you time it right you can enjoy a spectacular sunset along the way. After a pleasant meal in a local restaurant you can enjoy a romantic walk back by starlit.

I am always looking for things that look familiar or strike me as unusual. In Canada we have many small communities that do not have gas stations. In Aticama a local store provides gas filled gerry cans that are placed on a wooden table outside the store.

Customers just drive up and fill from a can. At night the cans positively glow when the light shines through them.
