La
Manzanilla, Mexico is a small village on The Bay of Tenacatita just
35 minutes by bus from Malaque. The long curving, gently sloping beach
is great for swimming, diving and walking. Sorry no picture this trip!
We recommend that you get off the bus by the lagoon where you will
likely see crocodiles sunning themselves.
When we were there we noticed
that the crocodiles had been fenced off by one strand of plastic tape.
We did hang around long enough to see if they would honour this boundary.
A walk along this pristine beach will take you past a number of vacation
properties amongst the the many palm trees. You will also see the remains
of a luxury beach side resort that testifies to the incredible destruction
caused by the earthquake in 1996.
Back
at the village you will see there are many palapa restaurants lining
the beach where you can get a cold drink or a meal and enjoy the vista.
Like most of small town Mexico the main street is unpaved. This is
in stark contrast to the main streets in Melaque.
We noted that one enterprising resident has taken online-shopping to
a new level by running a clothes line from his tower to a local store
across the street.
